MVP development services

MVP development, from idea to real users.

We design, build and launch the first version of your product: web or mobile, AI where it does real work, running in your own cloud account.

In short

  • VMGM Software builds MVPs end to end: product design, web and mobile apps, APIs, AI features and the cloud infrastructure they run on.
  • Our two most recent client products took two and three months from the first line of code to a finished product.
  • Every VMGM Software project is quoted as one fixed price, free, a few days after the first meeting.
  • Working software goes up on a real URL every week, deployed to the client’s own cloud account.
  • The client owns the code, the data and every account from the first day.

What is MVP development?

An MVP, or minimum viable product, is the smallest version of a product that real people can use, built so you learn whether the idea works before paying for everything else. MVP development is designing, building and launching that version.

When we build an MVP, it is a working product, not a clickable prototype. Depending on what the product has to do, that covers:

  • A web app, a mobile app, or both
  • The API and database behind it
  • Sign-in, payments and email, where the product needs them
  • AI features, where they do a job a person would otherwise do
  • The cloud infrastructure it runs on, in your own AWS account

How much does MVP development cost?

The cost of an MVP is set by its scope, not by an hourly rate. We quote every project as one fixed price, free, a few days after we first talk it through, with what is in it and what is not written down.

These are the things that move the number:

FactorCosts lessCosts more
PlatformsOne: web or mobileWeb, iOS and Android
UsersOne kind of userSeveral roles with different permissions
IntegrationsNone, or one well-documented APIHardware, legacy systems, several third-party APIs

To get a number for yours, tell our voice agent what you want built. It takes a few minutes, we meet that week, and the fixed quote follows a few days later.

How long does it take to build an MVP?

Time is set by scope, the same as cost. For reference, here are our two most recent client products, each one built by us end to end:

ProductWhat it doesFirst line of code to finished product
Feedback to ActionAn AI voice agent that collects customer feedback by phone, with a reporting dashboard per location2 months
ClearSiteA mobile app, a Bluetooth camera integration and an AI vision pipeline that grades construction lots3 months

You do not wait until the end to see it. Working software goes up on a real URL every week, starting in the first week.

Can an MVP include AI features?

Yes, and most of our recent work does. Feedback to Action answers the phone with a voice agent and runs every call through a pipeline that pulls out what the customer said and scores it. ClearSite turns hours of footage from a roof-mounted camera into a construction stage for every lot.

We add AI where it does a job a person was doing, and leave it out where a plain feature does the job. An AI feature in an MVP has to be checked against real data like any other feature, or the first users find its mistakes for you.

Who owns the MVP when it is finished?

You do, from the first day. The code lives in your repository, the product runs in your own cloud account, and every third-party account is in your name. If you later hire your own team or move to another one, nothing has to be handed over, because none of it was ever ours.

Should I hire freelancers, an agency, or a team like ours?

Freelancers cost least per hour and suit a well-defined piece of a product. An agency suits a large organization that needs account management around the work. We suit a founder or a company that wants one team to take an idea to real users and hand over something it owns outright.

How does the process work?

  1. 01Day one

Tell our voice agent what you want built

Describe it the way you would to a friend. It asks the questions that usually take a first call to get to.

  2. 02That week

We meet and pull it apart

What it has to do, what it does not, what already exists, and what would make this a bad idea. We would rather find that now.

  3. 03A few days later

    A fixed quote, free

One number, what is in it, what is not, and when the first version lands. Yours to keep and take elsewhere if the answer is no.

  4. 04Then

We build it in the open

Working software on a real URL every week, deployed to your own cloud account. You steer as you see it, and you own all of it throughout.

MVPs we have built

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a technical co-founder to build an MVP?

No. You need someone to make the technical decisions and build the product, and that can be a team like ours. What you do need is a clear picture of the problem and who has it, which is what the first conversation is for.

What if my idea turns out to be a bad one?

Better to find out before building. The first meeting covers what would make the idea a bad bet, and if we think it is one, we say so before you pay for anything.

Should my MVP be a web app or a mobile app?

Start where your users already are. A web app is quicker to ship and to change. A mobile app earns its place when the product needs the camera, location, notifications or offline use, and when it does, we build it once for iOS and Android with React Native.

What happens after the MVP launches?

You decide. We can keep building with you, or you can take it to your own team. The code and the accounts are already yours, so there is nothing to migrate either way.

How do I get a quote for my MVP?

Tell our voice agent what you want built. We meet that week, and a fixed quote follows a few days later. It is free, and yours to keep even if the answer is no.

Do you work with startups outside Austin?

Yes. VMGM Software is based in Austin, Texas, and works with clients across the United States.
